Ons Nest
Privacy
A plain-language explanation of what happens with your data on this site.
Who runs this site
Ons Nest is a self-catering holiday home in De Haan, Belgium, listed and bookable through Interhome. This website is a small, independently-run project — not a large company with a dedicated legal team, but we've tried to be precise and honest about what actually happens technically.
This site does not use cookies
No cookies are set by this site, by us or by anyone else on our behalf. We don't use Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or marketing trackers.
What we do collect
To understand how many people visit and whether they go on to book, this site logs a small, anonymous event each time a page is viewed, and each time someone clicks through to the Interhome booking page. Each event contains only:
- the page visited
- your browser's language setting (e.g. "nl", "en") — used only to show which languages visitors read the site in
- the date and time
- whether it was a page view or a click to the booking page
We do not store your IP address, and we have no way to link separate visits back to the same person. There is no visitor ID, account, or fingerprinting of any kind.
This data is stored on Netlify's infrastructure and is only viewable by us, through a password-protected page.
Third parties involved in running this site
A few outside services are involved simply by nature of how the site is built and hosted:
- Netlify hosts this website. Like virtually any web host, its infrastructure logs incoming requests (including IP addresses) for security and reliability — this is Netlify's own standard processing, separate from anything we do. See Netlify's privacy policy.
- OpenStreetMap — the map on the Location section of this site is loaded directly from openstreetmap.org. Loading it sends a request straight to their servers, which will see your IP address like any normal web request. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy.
- Interhome — clicking “Book now” takes you to Interhome's own website, a separate company, where their own privacy policy applies to anything you do there (including any booking or payment details). See Interhome's privacy policy.
Your rights
Because we don't store any personally identifying information about visitors, there generally isn't personal data of yours for us to look up, correct, or delete on request — but if you have any question about this, or about anything above, you're welcome to get in touch.
